Tips to Help You Stay Afloat in College
- Budgeting: Keeping tabs on all expenses will help students find out areas where they could reduce their expenditure. Moreover, while allocating money for different needs, such as keeping that mobile phone working, look for discounts and deals, such as prepaid recharge offers, so that you are not overspending.
- Housing: Try looking for places to board near the campus, if your institution does not have a hostel facility. This way you get to save money that would otherwise be spent travelling to and fro. Also try and rent a place with a few roommates to help share the rent cost better.
- Text Books: Higher level of studies means that the books may be more expensive as well. Top that with the numerous reading lists and you've got a situation where you can see your money flying out the window. To save some bucks, search for your required texts in the library and burrow it from there. You can also buy secondhand books that are usually half the price of a new one or look for e-books that come with great discounts.
- Food: If you are living on your own, there are major chances that you might get attracted to eating out and not realize how much money you are whiling away. To prevent this, consider having your meals at the canteen, which is reasonably priced, or if you are willing to do a little cooking, learn some simple and quick breakfast and dinner recipes. Health and savings both will start looking up!
- Work: It is prudent to find a part time or freelancer job that will not only add to your career experience but will also add some extra cash to your pocket.
- Discounts: Everybody loves to hear the words “free” or “discount,” students a little more. Coupons and hot deals like mobile recharge offers or a sale on essential products are the best ways to save a few extra bucks on things you buy regularly.
